Psychiatric Evaluation & Medication Management

Psychiatric evaluation and medication management are among the mental health services offered at Greater Nashua Mental Health. Not every person will require or need medications to address their mental health challenges, but when they do, a psychiatric evaluation appointment may be requested and scheduled. If the person is being discharged from the emergency room or the hospital for psychiatric reasons, an appointment may be scheduled within 7 days of discharge. Deciding on what medications a person is prescribed involves shared decision-making.

Medication management follow-up visits are scheduled at appropriate intervals to monitor response to medications, adjust medication doses, address side effects or negative responses, review treatment goals, and assess general well-being.

A psychiatrist (MD or DO) or a psychiatric nurse practitioner (APRN, PMHNP-BC) performs psychiatric evaluation and medication management.  Coordination of care and review of the treatment plan are conducted during weekly treatment team meetings.
